RIP Bill (Looks like it's official)

Post by BillzNoLongerHere on March 20th 2010, 2:19 pm

Looks like Valve are pulling a massive cock move here and have killed
off one of the original survivors officially in time for the passing.

From the Left 4 Dead Wiki:

  • As stated in a recent interview on GameTrailersTV[7],
it is revealed that you will only be interacting with three of the
original survivors as one of them is already dead.
  • Also revealed in GTTV, a new DLC for Left 4 Dead will be
released where a player must sacrifice themselves at the end so that
their team can escape, giving them the choice on who dies. Also stated
that the Comic Book story of the same DLC will give you the actual story
    of who dies

Francis and Zoey have been confirmed as alive, and seeing as Jim French didn't VA for Crash course I'm going to conclude it looks like Bill is the one being offed.

Looks like the Left 4 Dead saferoom opening's graffiti just got made canon.

RIP Bill. You were by far my favourite video game character in a loooooooooong time.

I say it should be both options 1 and 2. They need someone to die for realism, why not the old guy? He's a vet so you know he has the courage. I just wanna know how is this gonna effect the survivor rate.

I think it would be cool to see a survivor zombie that looks like bill

Do you even know what a Bill zombie would look like? You would need an artist depiction of him to get my vote of proof.

Except chances are he won't be a zombie, because he's immune.

But fine, I'll knock one up by the end of the week.

You can only hope that he is some how mentioned in it which I think the original survivors will talk about him

Maybe there would be a 1 in 100 chance that bill would appear as the new uncommon common once somewhere in the new campaign.

who ever dies well be the new uncommon common due to the name "the fallen survivor" but its most likely bill because i bet Zoey + Ellis Francis and coach & Nick well be good buds and Louis + Rochelle = <3

Coach and Nick. Good friends? Are we playing the same game?

I've come to the conclusion finding out who dies is going to be the main selling point of The Passing from reading various threads over at the official forums.

Sure, it won't be the ONLY selling point(new campaigns are welcome always), but it's bound to be the main one to anyone who adored the first game.

Or Francis can kick Nick's ass, and then Coach and Francis can become
best buds. Ellis can start dating Zoey, Louis can start dating Rochelle,
and then everyone will escape on the Midnight Riders tour bus.

But...if that's true, it leaves open so many plot holes:

1.) How is Jimmy Gibbs Jnr car in Dark Carnival if the Passing is between the two campaigns? If they escape on the midnight riders bus then surely they leave that car for dead.

2.) Nick states he never heard of the Midnight Riders before in Dark Carnival. If they escape on their tour bus, I can imagine Ellis or Coach ranting about how amazing they are.

3.) The original survivors aren't with the new guys in Dark Carnival. This means they should split up at the end of The Passing. But for what reason? Surely 7 guns are better than 4?

SO MANY QUESTIONS. HURRY UP THE PASSING.

Well I can answer some of the questions.

3, well they say they will split up since 7 guns, as you put it, are louder and flashier than 4. That attracts more zombies and trouble hence the split.

2, I think the passing is more about the wedding than the Riders. And if my point on 3 is true, then the old survivors would leave in the van and Ellis would pick the car.

1, with the points above, I think that this is self explanatory.

I wonder if any of the L4D survivors have heard of the Midnight Riders. They don't mention them, but in the DLC, do you think they will?
