Onimusha??
Anyone ever play the Onimusha series on PS2? It was a hack and slash survival game set in fudeal Japan. Fighting evil demon forces and other such dark beings. Not really sure how else to describe it. Kind of like Resident Evil meets Ninja Gaiden. Either way it was an awesome series of games. The Dark Realm challenges we always my favorite part (side quest thing). Wave after wave of enemies with ever increasing difficulty. And the supplies you came in with was all you got. You could get health and magic from properly executed attacks but this only became harder and harder as you worked you way down. After about 25 levels of this hell you would get a reward. Something nice but for the really good stuff you had to keep going all the way to 100, with prizes every 25. No saves no breaks you just had to keep fighting. And if you died you had to start all over again!! It was "grinding" at it's best!!!

If I knew what the Onimusha series was, I would love to play it. The only reason why I might not have been able to get it or play it was because I've never heard of it, and never got a chance to see it. However, if I find a copy, I will be more than happy to check it out.

Dig through the PS2 bargain bin next time you're at Game Stop. You could probably get all 4 games for 20 bucks or so.

Ya he took you to the dark realm. He was the one character that was in every game. Very creepy thing he was!

It kinda went downhill in the 4th. I think it was the 4th. The one where you play the dude with the horns. I didn't like it as much as the others. just my opinion.

The third and fourth were when they started to change things. The third is when they had the time travel story and you played two different characters. The fourth had like 4 or 5 different playable characters and lacked the charm of the first three. It had it's strong points but just missed the mark.

If you love the game so much, show me a full review of how you think of the game, and try to convince me to buy the games if they are worth it. What do you think?

OMG! Ok I'll take that challenge! There are four games (that doesn't include the spin-offs). That being the case I'll review the first game. Go buy and play it. Let me know what you think then I'll review the second! I also haven't played the games in years so give me some time to research and refresh my memory. I may even run by the Game Stop and pick up a copy. I was looking online and they have the first three games bundled for 25$. I may even have them around here somewhere. They most likely got sold in the great "Upgrade of 2007".
Unrelated note: I'm always surprised how hard it is to find people that played these games. They made four main games and two spin-offs. One 3D fighting game (It was ok for what it was). And one turn based strategy game on Game Boy Advanced. Gerb played them though! I can always cont on you to know about the most obscure stuff!!!

Re: Onimusha??
I played Onimusha 1 - 4. Part 2 was my favorite. The story of the Onimusha series was great and the action was definitely awesome. Oooohh those Dark Realm levels were definitely frustrating! lol... but the rewards at the end were worth it. I think part 3 was pretty fun, playing both characters and playing both sides of the story, also being able to finally control the camera angles was a great addition (and being able to look at Samanosuke up close :P lol).
Does anybody know if Onimusha 5 is ever gonna exist? It's like a big mystery... some people say it's coming and others say it's fake news!
Also the movie is supposed to come out 2011!
