I really hate to ask this question: Are you a rage quitter?

Post by Drumrush7 on May 8th 2010, 11:26 am

When I play a match, I expect to play all the way through and never stop.
The only reason for me to rage quit is if I'm time constricted, I have somewhere important to go, or I have to be a part of a L4D tournament that just made me most recent game a practice round.
The fact is, we all hate rage quitters.
When your trying to get an achievement or and avatar award, rage quitters ruin that opportunity.
If your having a good match, and your just about to win, rage quitters ruin that too.
The only reason we have rage quitters is because they choose to be so that they can make our lives miserable.
So I'm only going to ask you this once: Are you a rage quitter?

I'm proud to say that i'm not a rage quitter!

It's very annoying when i'm just trying to play a game and people keep quitting. I have played many games where my whole team has left and i'm left alone... but i continue playing cuz i'm there to have fun, eventually other people join anyway. I play for fun, win or loose! I think the only times i have actually rage quit was cuz of the super lag i get sometimes. The type of lag that is constant and makes you fail at everything... i can't stand that! I get so irritated that Tank music plays in my apt! lol

What's just as annoying is the spammers and poor team players out there that are kicked by other players, and we assume they rage quit.
I'm glad I'm not a rage quitter.
If I was, I would have rage quitted this post.
But sometimes when people do quit is because they are kicked.
Rage quitters are annoying; good thing the latest poll question asks who the rage quitters are.

Sure I ragequit. I don't see the big deal. Usually ragequit for a reason though:

It's usually Team Disharmony(was my vote on this week's poll), where one person tries to sabotage their team mates with friendly fire and no one votes yes to boot out the team killer. Just annoyingly frustrating. I don't mind losing, what's the point in trying if no one else is going to bother?

Used to if I was on my own on the Infected team, but thanks to the
additional SI, not such a problem now. How is one infected meant to take down four Human survivors outside of an instant kill Charger spot?

Haha, I remember one time I was in this game in which I was on a horribly losing team due to people constantly leaving and bad AI survivors (The score was like 238 to 2,000+ hahahaha). In fact, most of the time I was on a team by myself trying desperately to even out the score (I failed T.T), but I had a big distaste for rage quitters so I stuck it out through till the end. When the finale for Dark Carnival was just about over I remember a guy calling me his hero and praising me for sticking it out till the end under the worst circumstances. It was a bit of compensation for the bad time lol. So just saying, there ARE people who appreciate those that don't rage quit! Smile

well the ledge at dead center if you have them in a group you can charge and take 2-4 out, other spots they can go flying over ledges

But that's exactly my point. Without instant kill Charge spots prior to the update it was down right impossible to take out a team of human survivors solo unless they either a.) killed themselves or b.) really, really sucked.

I DID manage once to take a whole team out just by being a Smoker, as they rushed on ahead without coming back to save one another. I believe the stage was The Parish 4, but that's the rarest of the rare scenarios.

On the other hand recently, I've come across entire teams who rage quit after the first chapter, and just because our team made it a tiny bit further than they did:

Swamp Fever 1. Managed to Smoker drag Ellis into a Witch, a Boomer vomited on the other three, a charger seperated one and I believe it was a spitter who spat on the remaining two. They died shortly before reaching the area with the Juke Box.
Our turn as the survivors, and we made it to the crescendo(literally a Tank's stone throwing distance away) and the entire infected team quit, and our server shut down. What the heck guys?

See...
It only gets worse when players only believe in using SI or just the survivors.
It you look under the Funny Stuff category, you'll find a picture showing a rage quit chart, if you haven't seen it yet.

Yes I rage quit RARELY like BillzNoLongerHere says we have our good reasons.
Lag and i mean real bad lag. u dont get a chance to play properly and it spoils it.
Nobs who deliberatly come in and fuck up your game (thats why i play friends only or team games now)
When your the only infected on L4D and your against 4. I wanna win just as much as they do. L4D2 i dont quit due to the bots that join you even thou they are shit tbh.

But apart from that I dont quit all the time just once in a while. lets face it everyone does and dont deny it!

I Rage-quit on occasion, but only if I have a good reason.

If I need to be somewhere. I usually try to let my teammates know and apologize for leaving (if they have mics)
If I'm on a team of people who are teamkilling/noobing/not trying.
If I'm on a team full of people with no microphones (i mean honestly, how can you coordinate with your team if none of them have mics)
Unplayable lag (detriments the other teammates, why should i make them suffer?)

EDIT: Oh yes, i forgot. People who spend the entire match verbally lambasting/insulting me, (usually for no good reason), is not very enjoyable.

Hahaha, true true. I will quit if I have something to do, like pee lol. But then that probably doesn't really count as rage quitting does it? Sometimes I contemplate playing when it's 4 vs 1 just cause it's SO horribly stacked and I stand no chance of winning, but I try to see it as a sort of challenge or an opportunity to learn something. It kinda forces me to REALLY try haha

If you rage quit and it's not due to lag or your team killing you, chances are that I'll hate you deeply and spam complaints against you.

What's the proper definition for Rage Quitting anyway?

It seems to stem to even regular quitting these days.

Yeahhh, I was just thinking about that. You can't really count a bad connection, crapping, or a dying grandmother as rage quitting can you?
