i need some tips as infected

I have a guide to infected play in the works for the strategy page. Probably have it done sometime after the tourney. If you can't wait that long you'll have to be more specific.

I'm going to attempt some tips here. If anyone disagrees with what I
say, or thinks I've made an error, feel free to point it out. I don't
want to give false information. I'm including difficulty levels for how easy the SI is to get to grips with.

Learning the map's is pretty important. That's the most important thing.
Your easiest prey are people who rush and don't come back for team
mates, as they usually get picked off one by one rather quickly.

Smoker
Difficulty: **

There are several places where a well timed Smoker pull can screw over
the survivors team.

In particular The Parish is a good place to learn Smoker.

Parish 3 in particular has some very nice spots for Smoker:

The survivors must walk up a staircase to a house and then leap out the
hole in the back. Grab the last person to try and jump. The others will
be unable to save them.

Shortly afterwards there is a part where the survivors must leap down
into the sewer. Very rarely do they all leap at the same time in public
games, so I suggest hiding atop the roof and waiting for the right
moment to smoker pull and really affect their game.

If somehow they make it past that bit of the level, there's the cars to
deal with. Hopefully a team mate such as a Boomer will successfully
blind them and you can smoker pull them INTO an alarmed car, causing it
to go off and untold panic.

If they make it past THAT, there's the end of the bridge, where all
survivors must drop down to the cementry. It's tricky to get close
enough to smoker pull the last survivor, but if the remaining survivors
are panicking and rushing they will rarely look behind them.

The very beginning of Parish 4 has the survivors walk up some stairs and
drop off a balcony. Try grabbing the person in last place there.

The crescendo event with the float activation is also another drop of no
return. Spawn near the door, and smoke that lagging survivor.

Smoker's are most effective when hidden and are generally speaking
better off attacking from higher ground. That being said, do not be
afraid to try and drag a survivor from a lower level, such as pulling
them out a window or off the rollercoaster in Dark Carnival 3/ledge of
Dead Center 1/Wooden plank of The Passing 2. This can greatly delay the
survivors should they attempt to save their friend, giving other
infected team mates a chance to attack.

Dark Carnival's finale has a good spot for Smoker on top of the concert
stage. Try and attack during the Tank attack, and see how effective it
can be.

Hunter
Difficulty: *****

Hunter's are ineffective if the survivor team are close packed, but
more often than not you'll see someone get too far ahead or lag too far
behind. This is your chance to pounce and inflict some serious damage on
the silly lone wolf who doesn't understand the team aspect of this
game.

Avoid stealing Smoker kills. I know how tempting it can be, but you'd be
better off waiting near the Smoker's dangling victim and awaiting a
rescuer. If one comes alone, pounce him.

The Hunter is one of the few SI who can remain silent when not readying
his pounce. This coupled with his fairly normal in contrast looks allow
him to blend in rather nicely during horde attacks and silently swipe
away health.

The Hunter is more effective as well when accompanied by other infected,
and should rarely take the lone wolf approach unless attacking a lone
wolf survivor.

There's more advanced Hunter techniques like 25 damage pounces and wall jumping, but I can barely comment on landing a perfect pounce and have yet to pull off a wall jump.

Spitter
Difficulty: *

The Spitter is a pretty straight forward SI to get to grips with. Find a
tight spot where the survivors MUST walk, (and for a long time
hopefully) and spit. Spit on downed survivors to help speed up the dying
process and prevent help from picking them up. Horde attack? Spit at
the survivors feet. Those Common infected are helpful for keeping the
survivors in place. Are they boomered? Spit. You get the idea.

Times when spitting is not a good option: Large open areas without any
infected to keep the survivors busy/in place. Yeah, that's about it.

Spitting from high places is recommended or areas where you can escape
from sight easily. The Spitter is INCREDIBLY SLOW after she spits, so if
at all possible make sure the survivors just DON'T spot you.

An extra benefit is the Spitter's acid can cause dropped scavenge gas
cans to ignite. Useful in Dead Center and The Passing's finales, even
more helpful in Scavenge mode.

Jockey
Difficulty: ****

The Jockey is weak. Not going to argue this, he's by far the weakest of
the SI. He is however relatively decent at seperating survivors and
doubly effective against boomered survivors.

He can incap, but he can't kill. On the bright side he's quite nimble,
and can strike a survivor from behind quite easily. He dies fairly
quickly however for a close range SI, so bare that in mind.

You can somewhat control the survivor you're riding so try to drag him
into the furthest away corner away from the flying bullets, or into a
Witch, another SI etc.

Witch
Difficulty: *

Alright, you can't PLAY as her, but that doesn't mean she can't be
used, right? No matter what SI you're playing try to sit either in front
or behind the Witch. If you're playing Smoker, simply drag a survivor
from behind the Witch. More often than not the resulting panic bullets
will end up hitting her and causing her to fly into a wild rage, thereby
guarenteeing an incap. During this time your team mates(and you if you
didn't get killed by those initial bullets) can team up to take care of
the others.

Basically, treat the Witch like an alarmed car, and try and force the survivors into accidentally shooting her.

That's all I've got for now. I'm sure RedLeafed's is more indepth, but this should tide you over for now. Drumrush and the others already gave you tips for Boomer in your other topic, which leaves the Charger and Tank as the only two I haven't covered.

I suck as Charger, and don't have the time to write about Tank right now. I may add him later.

I would increase the Spitter difficulty too. She may be easy to use mechanics wise, but proper timing and spit placement is crucial. In fact a bad spitter can turn a a devastating attack into a minor inconvenience.

Tip #1: Kill yourself. Early and often. Block bullets so the more valuable common infected can live to raise a family.
Tip #2: Pom-poms. Put down the controller and cheer on the common infected. It will build character.
Tip #3: Play with the sound on and the video off. In order to attain the highly sought secret achievement "Ninja Zombie" one must learn to play off the sense of hearing alone. Seeing is for noobs anyway!
Tip #4: Engage in ritualistic acts mutilating your own genitalia before playing. This will appease the L4D Gods and they will look upon you favorably. As opposed to the noob who fails to engage in such practices. He will be struck down with great vengeance and furious anger.
Tip # 5: Screw the audio. Blast Lady Gaga until your ears bleed. Several studies suggest that music with "questionable proclivities" increase zombie-killing-skills.
