I use bullets and fire. Sometimes I try talking to him to see why he is so very angry. That almost never works!

Molotov is the most basic way. Then proceed to open fire with a hail of bullets. This is the easiest way.

First thing is to pick a spot to fight him. Though the times are random random there are specific spots where the tank will spawn. You should have at least 2 plans as far as where you want to fight him. Your spot should be a place that forces the other team to fight you on your terms. Here are some pointers for choosing a spot.
-They should be open areas with cover from rock throwing.
-You should also be able to break line of sight so you can force it to go rage. The faster it goes rage the fewer attacks the other team will get.
-Set up a "Spawn perimeter". Pay attention to your line of sight and force them to spawn as far away as possible. Be careful not to go too far out in case a jockey or smoker breaches the perimeter.
-Have a planned spot for both rush and fall back strategies. Be mindful of the other team's spawn status before you make this decision. Falling back is always best if they are all ready to attack.
-Obviously avoid "punchable" objects.

Next you need to get him on fire ASAP. Knowing the spawn spots makes pre-lighting much easier. If you're fast and accurate enough you can light him before they get player control. Here are some pointers on getting him lit.
-If you are going second and know when he will spawn try to force an attack as close as you can to the spawn point without setting it off. Rush the spawn after the SI are neutralized ASAP. Horde control is is job 1 when doing this! First because you need to get there before they respawn, second you don't want a lot of CI around when you're face to face with the big guy . If you're going first think about how many of the other team are ready to spawn, then decide to push forward or fall back. So you're in your spot and ready for the fight.
-If he's tossing rocks and is in range wait until the moment he picks up the rock to toss your mollie. Lighting him like this is sometimes better than pre-lighting. Doing this is difficult but is one of the best ways to get him lit.
-If you can't do any of these you pretty much have to light him when he shows up. Just try not to cover the area you want to fight him in with fiery death!

Send your worst player in alone and have them challenge the tank to arm wrestling or a game of darts. While the tank is distracted, strip the best player naked and light their pubic hair on fire (it is important you get this part right). Now if the worst player wins (darts OR arm wrestling) the tank will join the survivors and you have a new friend. If they lose, find the nearest fire extinguisher (the pubes are still ablaze, right?) and save your best player. Finally, blame everything on the charger and his views of socioeconomic issues in America today. Most "noobs" fail to recognize the tank is a symbol of the industrial revolution.

i usually molotov it, then me and assorted XBL players pump'im full 'o lead. Make sure to keep moving, and that your health is above 40 so you CAN outrun him. and obviously, avoid throwable objects and rocks as much as possible. If you really HAVE to, try shooting the rock out of the air. it's possible, but risky. Hope this helped.
