I'd say that no one particular person is a great L4D2 player, the game is team based and thats what makes that group of people great, by working together during campaign or versus, to call out Special infected keep the team moving forward to the same goal.
Good question tho.

That's kinda like asking "How can you tell someones good at guessing dice?" It all depends on everything. Sometimes they get it right other times it's wrong. Just like players who have good games and bad games.

Re: How do you determine a GREAT! l4d2 player?
Maybe the question should be what makes a great team mate?
Someone who can aim a gun usually helps, doesn't leap into friendly fire, helps come up with plans, tries to avoid getting frustrated, knows the importance of keeping your back safe(walls, corners for difficult hordes(long as there are no spitters around)) and someone who is observant are the key things I look for.
People who don't *ahem* leave you 4 dead too.*
*unless you're a.) impossible to save or b.) saving you would endanger the rest of the team more than help.

I have to agree billnolongerhere. that is how I meet good players erm.. teams. It all depends on how the players interact with one another.
I have been playing with a lot of people on expert and just to say THEY SUCK. That change when I met a team who never rage quits, stay calm, and sticks together. So it actualy depends on how they play the game. (skills) @____@

I liked every ones reply back, had some really good points i definitley liked what you were sayin billnolongerhere. people just dont know how to play this game on EXPERT its the most frustrationg thing ive ever came across in a video game the number one main thing STOP SHOOTING THE GRENADE LAUNCHER ON EXPERT MODE PLEASE IF YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO PLAY!!!!!! its a death weapon an i really think on expert mode they shouldve enabled friendly fire in some way because getting hit with the weapons kills a teams changes dramatically

Re: How do you determine a GREAT! l4d2 player?
But that is just the point.
Valve wants the game to be as realistic as possible, while giving players obvious hints to whats going on around them.
A great L4D player, is a s great as the team they are on.
An individual helps teammates more than themselves in order to survive.
Sometimes a bold player will make the honest sacrifice for their team, and then later get rescued in a closet.
I find expert mode completely ridiculous to play on L4D2.
If you want to play an expert run with AI, don't even try.
Only the best of the best L4D2 players could get the real deal, and still something to prove because of good teamwork.

A good Left 4 Dead player needs to be able to work well with others and is individually strong incase his team needs him for example a Hit-man. But can get along with others because the more you know the people you play with it just seems easier to play for some reason

Tattered Pants, that is not a very good analogy at all. You can not be skilled at guessing dice, it is pure chance. In l4d you can actually have skill. To tell who is a "great" player, you have to decide what exactly makes a player "great". Sometimes it can be hard to tell, especially if you can't communicate with the other players. In general, all the good players will have mics, and they will not join in pub games. (Although I know Red, Gerbil, Chuckles, and I like to join in pub games on occasion.)

Re: How do you determine a GREAT! l4d2 player?
I end up on public games occasionally and I gave up on great back at L4D 1. As of now my expectations are:
1: Have an attention span greater than that of a ferret high on angel dust.
2: Have the cognitive ability to distinguish a survivor from a fire hydrant (I am not going as far as requiring a zombie/survivor distinction)
3: A modicum of patience.
If you meet this criteria, SpottableCrab wants you for his army!

I got the real deal and still something to prove by myself, does that make me the best of the best? :p In the past I have played realism expert and expert with players and I usually don't get friendly fired. It all comes down to playing with people who can clear horde fast and efficiently. And having the presence of mind to not shoot a zombie that is about to hit a teammate when a gun can do more damage that one hit from a zombieDrumrush7 wrote:But that is just the point.

Honestly achievements have nothing to do with being a great Left 4 Dead player
