Last Man Alive -Achievements made easy(Expert, Bridge over Trebled Slaughter, Tank Burger)

Post by BillzNoLongerHere on May 31st 2010, 4:39 pm

Loving this week's mutation. Just completed a run on Expert on the Parish, helped a friend get Bridge over Trebled Slaughter(I did it for them basically) and saw someone get Tank Burger easier thanks to this.

The Parish finale is a total joke now, which is good for anyone who needs that darn Trebled Slaughter achievement, but also handy for slowpokes like myself who find Expert mode a chore with all those pesky common infected.

Better players than myself will surely find expert mode runs yawningly easy on this mode, but on Parish part 4 I kept getting Tank trapped, or Ninja Smokered, a total pain, and am embarrased to say it took me 7 restarts of Parish Part 4 to get to the finale. The finale was a piece of cake, just speed run through, avoid the Tank, keep running, second Tank doesn't even spawn. Nice. Took just over 40 minutes in total and only 49 infected were killed(most of those during Parish 4)

Going to try Swamp Fever tonight(wish me luck with the three tanks on the finale), although I'm not sure about Dead Center. Scavenge finale on expert mode solo? Even without commons that's gonna suck.

So, what's this topic about? Just a heads up to point out expert mode for this week is doable, even for sad sacks who suck at expert like myself. Get on and take advantage.

Dead Center was my first one in this game mode. I thought the finale was pretty easy. Usually the tanks spawn across the map on a different floor and have trouble getting to you if you keep moving. Keep in mind you can also throw all the cans down and then put them in because AI Spitters won't try to ignite them. You also get 4 Health Kits in these finales which basically gives you 5 lives in this game mode.

I have beaten 4/5 of the original campaigns in mutation on expert. They were all pretty easy, Swamp Fever with the double tanks was a little scary, but I got it on the first try. The only campaign I haven't finished is Hard Rain. The Hard Raid finale is quite hard on expert, the others are very reasonable.

Well Zach was right, Dead Center was relatively painless. I was being chased around by the Tank, but after a while of avoiding it, it died of boredom and I was free to get on with filling up the car. 8 gas cans is pretty reasonable.

Swamp fever however wasn't so fortunate. Got to the finale, killed the first Tank with a gas can, mollied the other two and continued to kite them around, until a Smoker grabbed me, I killed it, but both Tanks had learnt to clamber up on the maze before flinging those heat seeking rocks. Survived the first one, but down to 30 HP, the second rock(which was flung half a second later) got me.

It was 4am, so I just gave up and went to bed.

Hunters are by far the worse(although Jockey's and Smokers cause no end of grief too). They pounce you and as you're getting up slash you so you die without standing a chance. Usually get you whilst you're distracted by something else...I'm looking at you, Tank.

OMG this was the best idea ever. Dark Carnival was easy. Dead center was easy. hard rain was moderate. the parish.... I did that with the lag glitch, the passing was not on yet so i figured to go ahead and lag the game so that i could get the Achievement. I only need swamp fever.
Any tips guys? I heard that the 2 tanks in the finale are hard. I'm pretty scared on trying this one out yet. Any Jesus spot? glitches ? ANYTHING ?

Hard Rain in my opinion is the hardest, I got Swamp Fever my first try on expert. Just make sure to light them both up and run. I've done all six of the campaigns on expert last man, pretty easy. They should make a more challenging option.

Something like this, perhaps?

@Xrenzco: Well, there is this ONE glitch for use with two controllers...

You'll just have to make it through the rest of Swamp Fever first.

You could always get a friend to do the EXPERT GLITCH with you.

I've heard that the expert glitch was fixed, although the source isn't overly reliable.

Oh cool. Xrenzco got Swamp Fever today too. Me too. Finally got Still Something to Prove. So hard to do without a team, eh?

I also think Swamp Fever was harder due to the amount of time I play it...I didn't really know the maps that well until today.

TBH though, this mutation has thus far been my favourite, and not just for achievements. This one seems like they put a little more thought into the mode rather than just "oh, here's a Gnome. Hold it."

I know right. which part did you think is the hardest. mines definitely the tank x2. Smokers are the worst that is why i keep the chainsaw to cut the tongue. And you know whats weird is that when I got to the boat Ellis said " get to Jimmy Gibbs J. " or " Get to the car' and I was like WHAT ?!?!? Tha'ts a boat not a car. hey BILLZNOLONGERHERE did you experience this ?
