Re: Teamwork
Toss up between Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead. As I managed to keep an entire team of 5 at bay solo on Tf2 with Engineer however, I ended up going L4D.
Gears of War 2's Horde mode is another co-op intense game. That might be subject to personal taste however and or/personal skill.
Also Borderlands, which works better IN co-op, but isn't essential.
EDIT: altered my vote. The fact Team Fortress 2 is losing to Halo, is pitiful when the question is teamwork.

Re: Teamwork
First of all, even though you may be in teams, Halo 3 and Modern Warfare 2 really don't involve any teamwork whatsoever. In both games, you're a Lone Wolf most of the time anyways.
I didn't vote either of them which is why I chose L4D.

Re: Teamwork
Now who voted Halo!? Halo, like COD, is a Rambo fps. Just hold down right trigger until everything dies, no teamwork necessary.

Re: Teamwork
I agree with the general consensus above. For the most part, Halo and CoD's "Team" modes are basically just free for all where it combines your teammates' scores at the end.
I will say that game modes like Capture the Flag and stuff like that do require a little teamwork but hardly anybody that plays them makes any sort of attempt at working together. Team Deathmatch type modes don't require any teamwork. It's all just like Free For All but they add up the scores at the end.

Re: Teamwork
I didn't get offended, and I didn't vote for Halo. There really is no point in doing teamwork in those kind of games.
Although I may be playing Halo right now doesn't mean I'll stop playing L4D.
In fact, once I get my last remaining Halo achievements, I'll be back on L4D for a while even after The Sacrifice comes out.
For now I'm killing my own kind, but later, I'm killing the infected.

Re: Teamwork
I have played Resident Evil 5(and loved it), and yes it does. But compared to L4D it doesn't seem as dependent. There's still the revive option that you MUST do to keep each other alive, but that's about as team related as Gears of War and Borderlands gets too.
