Holy shit. This was the most fun I've ever had in Left 4 Dead 2. I got a call from my friend GraveGareBear saying that he was playing with Modders. I got on immediately and got in to his game. Usually, people have bad experiences with this because the modders seem to usually just fuck the other team over. The modder we had, however, gave us the same perks that he gave himself. Here's a few...

-All weapons/items (including Gnome) spawn in starting safe room (including a sub-machine gun that's not in L4D2 at all!)
-Infinate ammo, no reloading (awesome with grenade launcher)
-Infinate Items (so we can keep chucking 50 bile bombs)
-No spawn time as Infected
-He'd teleport us randomly (sometimes good, sometimes bad)
-4 of the same SI at once
-4 Tanks at once

It was so much fun. I'm trying to learn how to do it.

so, i'm gonna go out on a limb and assume that this would NOT be allowed in the tournament.. correct?? :-P that sounds pretty interesting though. i'd love to have 4 boomers, just for fun! =D

I've played with a bunch of modders just cruising around random games. It seems that modding is a lot more prolific in this game. I personally never saw even one in L4D1.

I just played a game with a modder just two days ago, in L4D1. I went into a lobby with three of the best people I have ever played L4D1 with. At one point, they said they never lost, and after playing with them, I believe them. So i go in, join the 3 of them on their team to make 4, and wait. Then, this other guy comes in, I forget the name, and starts going on about "you guys aren't quitters, are you?", and asks if we can make the lobby private so he can bring in 3 of "his friends". This should have been a blaring warning for us, but none of us noticed, and let him do it. So 3 guys come in, Arsenic_Arsenyc, and 2 other people i also forget the name of, and we start the game. Not even 2 seconds go by, and there's a vote to go back to the lobby. We all hit yes, to see what they want, so one of the guys in our party goes out to talk to one of the guys in the other party. What this guy said when asked why to go back to lobby, was "Oh, no reason, just start the game". Second warning sign, made us pretty suspicious. We start the game as infected on No Mercy, and immediately plan our attack. First thing we noticed, is that no matter what we did, we ended up dying almost immediately. Smokers would be shot milliseconds after pulls were executed, hunters shot mid-pounce, and it seemed like no matter what we did or how sneakily we tried anything, that they knew exactly where we were. They got through the level with 190 health bonus, and all medkits left. Our turn came, we blazed through the level. Final score 1120-1148 their lead. Next level, we start as infected again. Smoker is shot through the ceiling immediately upon exiting the safe room, other stuff like that. One of the guys says that he's played with Arsenic before, and that he's a modder. He had him on his blocked list, but didn't know why it didn't occur to him before. I check his profile, and it says "I am not a cheater! Stop messaging me saying I am one!". Yeah...Right... It turns out that they could see us through the walls, so no matter what we did, we could not ambush them, sneak attack them, etc... I'm sure they were having a laugh about it the whole time in that party of theirs. What happened once our turn for human came was even worse. They had smaller respawn times, had more hitpoints, and did more damage. However, it was done just subtly enough that the average player wouldn't notice it. The worst part came later, when we finally just quit the game. We were right before the crescendo event, and a boomer and a smoker ambush us. We kill them, and are immediately, and I mean not even 2 seconds later, pounced by 3 hunters. Wait a second, that adds up to 5 players! Hmm... Finally, we just quit, and the other people in my party are bombarded by invites to parties and invites to games. Yeah, not cool. The guy in the party who played Arsenic before said the last time this happened, he noticed the same things, and had a huge argument with the guy, who of course, denied everything. Stupid...

PS: Another one of the guys on the other team had in his profile: L4D2 2v4 versus records: 17 wins, 0 losses.

We've known teams on GB that are just that good. Not good enough to find every infected through walls and spawning 5 infected. That stuff was fishy for sure!! Next time hit them with a text wall. It causes +50 eyeball damage!!!

No, modding IS NOT ALLOWED in the tournament.

I just wanna mod because I think it's fun. The guy we played with didn't just use it so his team could win. He gave our team all the same perks he gave his team. It's a lot of fun when you do that.

L4D1 DOES have modding but it's mostly only on offline game modes because valve patched it for the most part after a while for VERSUS mode. It might still workin versus if you force a local host.

Actually modding is impossible in the tournament. I think it's in the rules that you can't play on Local Host. Playing on Local Host is the only way your mods will work in Versus because you're using YOUR modded gamesaved xbox as the game server.

Yeah Valhalla cost 50 bux though...so screw that. They can charge it cuz they are like the only ones who have cracked the L4D2 encryption.

Let me know if you ever figure it out. The modders I have played with never handed out the perks to anyone else in the game. In fact the only games I have ever stuck around in lagged out within minutes. I would love to try it out and would greatly appreciate an invite if you ever get it going!

I played with a modder once. His team was on PC and my team was on 360. They somehow managed to hack the servers so that 360 and PC could collide. It was frustratingly amazing. No gravity, 100's of witches, 5 tanks, instant safe room spawn, it was insane. They kept screwing us over, and I quit after the 2nd level of Dead Center. All in all, it was fun.
